An Environmental Triangle: We, Woods And Woody Trees

I have heard a phrase in childhood, "wood is life, and wood is death". Means, wood is needed from life to death. Just think that today we have become enemies of the same trees who give wood. Whereas without trees the existence of living beings is not possible. In view of this importance of trees, in 'Matsya Purana', one tree has been described as equal to 10 sons. It means the trees and woods very important for our environment, our ancestors were known that.

This time it was scorching heat on Environment Day. The temperature was 45 to 47 degree Celsius in many areas. To celebrate Environment Day, tree plantation was also done in such a hot environment. Where the planted plants were taken care of, the plants survived, but where the plants were left after celebrating the ceremony, they could not survive. Such people wanted to remember the importance of trees on Environment Day or wanted to ignore them? Whereas we know that trees have importance in our life in many ways. Therefore, this question was also discussed in electronic and print media. It was a matter of thinking.

Trees are very important to us. It is because of plants and trees that we are able to survive on this planet. Trees give out life-giving oxygen without which it would not be possible for humans or other species to survive. However, this is not the only reason that trees are important to us. They have a lot to offer to the environment as well as to the living beings. Apart from giving oxygen, trees also absorb various harmful gases from the environment thereby reducing the effect of global warming. Apart from giving oxygen, trees also absorb various harmful gases from the environment thereby reducing the effect of global warming. Trees also provide us with food and shelter. Many trees bear fruits that serve as food for birds and animals.

Heavy rains cause soil erosion which disrupts the lives of the people living in the affected areas. The roots of trees hold the soil and protect it from rotting when it rains. Large trees absorb a substantial amount of water and reduce the chances of sediment deposits in rivers. Soil erosion causes many problems such as rise in water level in rivers and streams. This disturbs marine life and often results in floods. By preventing soil erosion, trees help maintain ecological balance.

Our atmosphere is filled with all kinds of harmful gasses including carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide. The increasing number of vehicles on the road and the increasing number of factories around the world are increasing the levels of these harmful gases in the atmosphere. Trees exhale carbon dioxide and the pure and fresh oxygen that we humans require for our survival. Trees also absorb other harmful gases to keep our environment clean. This is the reason that areas with a higher number of trees are less polluted.

Forests serve as a habitat for wildlife. Trees give shelter to many species of birds and animals. Thus, they promote biodiversity. Deforestation, which is one of the main concerns these days, has caused loss of biodiversity. Animals and birds are losing their habitat and it is difficult to survive. Researchers claim that further loss of biodiversity can have adverse effects on ecosystems. This is because animals and plants depend on each other for the fulfillment of many of their needs. Planting more trees and avoiding deforestation can help promote biodiversity and maintain ecological balance.

We get wood for our needs from trees. Along with the variations in the wood, many features are also found. Deodar trees are the strongest in terms of wood. But these trees are found especially in mountainous areas. These trees are found at an altitude of 3500 to 12000 feet. The wood of the pine tree is very strong and hard. Mahogany is a timber used to make furniture, ships, musical instruments, gun balusters, etc. Also, its wood is not spoiled by water, so weeds are also made from it. Woods such as ebony tend to sink in water even if they are extremely dry and thoroughly treated, while Bols woods are lighter than cork. Sandalwood plant is considered to be the most expensive plant in the whole world. The price of sandalwood in India is very high. Sandalwood is used in very special things, including worship and havan etc.

The cost of planting mahogany in one hectare comes to 40-50 thousand rupees. A mahogany tree sells for 20 to 30 thousand. In such a situation, you can earn crores of rupees by cultivating it on a large scale in your farm. Not only is its price high, but this tree also has medicinal properties and its wood is full of properties in many ways. Pine wood is of great economic importance. Almost half of all the useful wood in the world is fulfilled by pine. It is used in many works, such as in bridge construction, in large buildings, for train tracks, for making chairs, tables, boxes and toys etc.

From an environmental point of view, a bamboo tree is more useful than a bonsai. There are many benefits of bamboo trees. Bamboo is the fastest growing plant and longest grass in the world. Due to its height, firmness and strength, it is more advanced and useful than all types of grasses. Man has been using bamboo in his life for centuries. Bamboo is an important member of the huge 'Weed family'. Bamboo is called 'Green Gold' in our country. There are 24 species of bamboo found in India about 24 species of bamboo are found in India. There are some species of bamboo which grow up to 121 cm in a day. Once bamboo is planted in the field, it starts giving yield after five years. Bamboo is a crop which is not affected much by drought and rain.

Many of the things we get from trees have become a necessity for us, making us careless about deforestation and the ensuing threat. It is time that we should realize that cutting down trees threatens our own lives. Deforestation must be stopped to sustain life on earth. The loss of trees will have to be replenished by planting many more of them. Everyone should plant trees and contribute in keeping the environment clean.
