*Just think that the frogs croaking in the rain are heard speaking in the mid summer. Feeling confused in the cooing of the cuckoo as if she is asking whether to go or stay? It is funny, if there is a woman has to think whether to make ice cream or make hot tea-pakoras in the summer season? So, this would sound like a funny thing. But these days all this is happening. The weather is taking turns everyday. The summer has suddenly turned into rain, but that doesn't mean the heat wave won't come. Truth be told, umbrellas need to be kept outside, never knowing when to face the hot sun and never knowing when to encounter rain? But the weather was not like this earlier, and then what happened now? Why did it happen? Just think!*
It was a very funny tragedy. I had written an article in this column "Hai-Hai Garmi! Why is the summer getting so hot" but by the time of writing next week's article there was a big change in the weather. As like the monsoon season has arrived. It started raining heavily with thunder and this weather continued for three days. After this there was a slight change in the weather. When the sun used to rise in the morning, clouds would come and it would start raining by evening. There was a feeling of coolness in the atmosphere. The summer that started off soon turned into rain. According to meteorologists, the season of drop in temperature in the month of April broke its 100-year record. That is, for the last hundred years, there has never been such coldness in the second half of April and the first half of May. I also thought that naughty weather ditched my article. I wrote "hi-hi Garmi..." then he changed his form and forced me to think "hi-hi rain".
Another funny incident happened. I was talking to my neighbor. She told in the conversation that she had washed all her warm clothes, pestisized them and bagged them because the summer season had come and now there was no need for warm clothes. But the weather took such a turn that they had to take out some light warm clothes again. She was very angry on this matter. She used to say that “When the season had changed, it should have kept changing. When it was summer weather it had to be summer weather, why did it turn into rainy season? I laughed a lot listening to him but I thought it was a matter of thought. Feeling the need for warm clothes in hot weather is not a good sign.
The third incident really got me thinking. The scene was laughable but it also contained profound tragedy. I was passing by a form. It had started drizzling at that time and there was a possibility of heavy rain. I saw that some people were trying to cover the harvested crop with a big polythene sheet by loading it in a tractor-trolley. When they pressed the polythene from one side, it started flying from the other side. If they pressed on the other side, it starts flying from the first side. They were worried that their crops might get wet. If the harvested crop gets wet before reaching the barn, then that crop is sure to be ruined. Their pressing of the polythene sheet was creating laughter but the possibility of getting the crop wet was creating fear. This is a serious issue for a country whose farmers depend on the cycle of seasons to grow crops. Such changes in the weather can ruin their hard work. These changes in the weather will also affect the timing of planting their next crop. If the crop does not come on time or if the crop is not good, then the supply gets affected. As we all know that the market runs on the principle of demand and supply. If the supply is not equal to the demand, then the prices of the goods start increasing. If the vagaries of the weather continue like this, then no one can stop the increase in the price of food grains.
Why are there sudden changes in the weather? Experiencing winter and rainy season in summer is a clear indication of the serious threat that is called climate change. These changes have not happened in a day, they have taken many years to happen. Nature has been indicating us time and again about these changes, such as sometimes in the form of heavy rains, sometimes in the form of unexpected cold and sometimes in the form of deadly heat. Earth has also warned us time and again in the form of Tsunami and Earthquake but we did not pay serious attention to these warnings. Only scientists were worried about these signs, but the general public could neither understand those signs nor were they explained.
Ever you think that why Indian weather also going to unpredictable? In rainy season, in simple term monsoons winds are irregular in nature affected by different atmospheric conditions. They are also not equally distributed. Coastal areas like Kerala West Bengal and Odisha receive heavy rain fall, whereas interior regions like Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, receive less rainfall. For the most part, the country has a tropical climate which throughout most of the interior is a mixture of wet and dry tropical weather. In northern parts there is a humid tropical climate and along the western coast lies wet tropical areas. In metrological theory, the nation's climate is strongly influenced by the Himalayas and the Thar Desert. The Himalayas, along with the Hindu Kush mountains in Pakistan, prevent cold Central Asian Katabatic winds from blowing in, keeping the bulk of the Indian subcontinent warmer than most locations at similar latitudes. In the simple words we can says that the trees, mountains, deserts and rivers are all necessary to maintain the weather in a regular and natural way.
We have not only made our life ridiculous but also put it in grave danger. We caused a lot of damage to the forests by illegal felling of trees. While extracting sand from the rivers by illegal mining, many such aquatic animals were harmed which are important links of the eco system. We cut and leveled the hills to expand the cities. Now there is no scope left for stagnation of air. With the wind with which the clouds stay, they go on flying, as they don't know that they where rain and where they do not have to rain. Now we can saw many impacts of climate change as one of them hotter temperatures. As greenhouse gas concentrations rise, so does the global surface temperature. More severe storms, increased drought, A warming, rising ocean, Loss of species, Not enough food, More health risks, Poverty and displacement.
So when we feel rain and cold in the summer season, we should try to understand the seriousness of the situation. In the summer, not tea and Pakoras of rain, but ice cream and cold drink are more suitable. Otherwise, it won't take long to turn from funny to furious. Ha..Ha..Ha..! Think ten times upon it.
